#World_First_Aid_Day_2020

In 2020 World First Aid Day is on September 12th (Saturday). This is an annual campaign to promote the importance of first aid training in preventing injuries and saving lives.

The term 'First Aid' means the help that is provided to anyone who is suffering from disease or damage. Its primary goal is to protect the life and keep the condition from worsening. Every time it is not necessary that some medical staff help. In an emergency, even ordinary people can help and can save someone's life by providing first aid. First aid kit we mostly have in our home and in fact we should carry it via travelling.

First Aid and Its Importance

First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to anyone who suffers from either minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery. The purpose of first aid is to minimize injury and future disability. In serious cases, first aid may be necessary to keep the victim alive before a doctor arrives to apply the more specialized treatment.

The 5 Main Aims Of First Aid Are:

1. preserve life.

2. prevent the escalation of the illness or injury.

3. promote recovery.

4. pain relief.

5. protect the unconscious.

History Of World First Aid Day

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has introduced World First Aid Day in 2000. First Aid help started over 160 years back. At the Battle of Solferino in north Italy. Henry Dunant, a young businessman from Geneva saw a devastating amount of suffering. He enlisted the civilian population and served the wounded mainly women, girls irrespective of their role in the fight. With the necessary materials, he establishment makeshift hospitals and served them. The celebration of the day raises public awareness about the first aid, how it can save lives every day, and during crisis situations. The IFRC encourages people to learn the basic first aid training or at least educate themselves to practice any available, reliable sources.

World First Aid Day 2020: Theme

First aid saves lives

September 12, 2020, is World First Aid Day, an annual campaign to promote the importance of first aid training in preventing injuries and saving lives.

World First Aid Day: Objectives

- The first aim of World First Aid Day is to do necessary actions to save the life of injured person.

- The second aim is to handle the condition of an injured person by giving first aid and try to avoid infection.

- The third aim is to take patient immediately to the hospital before any mishappening.

In fact while providing first aid we should be careful and if we don't know what to do then it will be better to seek others help and inform doctors. And sometimes it is also seen that while performing first aid people don’t know what they are doing and might be they hurt instead of helping. So, IFRC always focuses and encourages people to take basic training of first aid or at least educate themselves using any available reliable sources.

So, we can say that first aid help is important and plays a crucial role in our lives but appropriate training and knowledge is necessary while giving first aid to an injured or infected person. Also, we should carry first aid while travelling and we should have first aid kit in our home.
